USA Curling is thrilled to announce the return of the U.S. Arena Curling National Championships.

After a two-year hiatus, the first year due to the pandemic and the second due to inability to uphold Covid procedures at the intended host site, the Championships will return to USA Curling’s sanctioned National Championship Calendar.

The Championships are a club-based and regionally qualified event that determine the top teams that play regularly in an arena setting.

“The Arena National Championships are hugely important to the grassroot level of our sport and overall pipeline development,” said USA Curling Director of Development Dean Gemmell. “We look forward to giving this especially passionate group of curlers National Championships that allow for optimal conditions.”

While the U.S. Arena Curling National Championships were historically held in Spring, relocating the Championships to Fall prioritizes the event in a way that allows high-quality conditions and eliminates the overlap of other competitive events should curlers wish to pursue them.

To align the U.S. Arena Curling National Championships as a sanctioned USA Curling event, the format will follow other regionally based championships that provide a berth to each region and additional berths to regions with the highest participation levels.

12 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams will participate in separate men’s and women’s divisions for a total of 24 teams. Each region—Alaska, GNCC/At-Large (dependent upon outcome of Members Assembly vote on the status of the GNCC) Mid-America, Great Lakes, Midwest, Mountain Pacific, Minnesota, Dakota Territory, Pacific Northwest, and Wisconsin—will receive one entry per division. Each region will determine the process for selecting their representative at this championship.

Exact dates and location of the 2022 U.S. Arena National Championships will be announced as soon as possible.
