QUALIFICATION PROCEDURES 2023 U18 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2023 U.S. Curling U18 National Championships will return to the USA Curling competition calendar in mid-January 2023 with exact dates and location to be announced.

The Championships will welcome a field of 24 total teams, qualifying 12 teams to the girls’ division and 12 teams to the boys’ division. Each field will be divvied up into two pools of six to complete round robin play before advancing teams to the playoffs.

The U18 National Championships have been moved to January to allow junior athletes time between Championships should teams also want to play in the U21 National Championships.

Twelve (12) boys and twelve (12) girls teams will earn berths to the 2023 U18 National Championships via the following ways:

  • One boys and one girls team from each of the following regions: Alaska, Mid-America, Great Lakes, Midwest, Mountain Pacific, Dakota Territory, Pacific Northwest, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and GNCC OR AT-Large (dependent upon outcome of Members’ Assembly vote on status of GNCC).

    • The qualification process will be determined by each region.

    • Should there be an At-Large playdown, it will be hosted by USA Curling.  USA Curling is working as quickly as possible to finalize dates and location(s) of an At-Large playdown, but the confirmation will be dependent upon vote and number of At-Large clubs at the conclusion of Members’ Assembly on Oct. 21, 2022.

  • The region with the greatest number of entries for each field will receive an additional berth.

  • The host club will receive a berth for one boys and one girls team.

Regional playdown information and registration will be added to the USA Curling Championship event calendar as it becomes available.

Teams will be contacted directly with registration information upon qualification for the 2023 U18 National Championships.

USA Curling looks forward to announcing the finalized dates and location of the Championships as quickly as possible!
