[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, March 11th, 2024] University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-M) emerged victorious at the 2024 College Curling National Championship, triumphing over Princeton University in the final at the Rice Lake Curling Club in Rice Lake, WI.

The championship, a collaboration between USA College Curling and USA Curling, brought together the nation's top collegiate teams, who qualified based on results at events throughout the season.

In the championship game, UW-M (Mitchell Armstrong, Alex Ge, Colin Packard, Emily Brost) trailed 1-0 early in the contest, but built a commanding 5-1 lead after six ends. In the seventh, after giving up a steal of five, Princeton (Nelson Rogers, Lara Katz, Brian Li, Johnathan Lysgaard Dolce) conceded to the Wisconsinites.

In the bronze medal matchup, Michigan Technological University (Gracie Kohn, Rese Elza, Bryce Doering, Tyler Magnuson) topped University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point (Kaydee Rennie, Ryan Wojcik, Cierra MacArthur, Jayda Harris, Claudia Lenz) in a game that was tied after seven ends. Holding the hammer in the eighth end, Michigan Tech scored one after their final shot redirected off two stones before spinning onto the button.

"This event and the season-long series is a great pipeline, bringing in many participants who never curled before attending college," noted Dean Gemmell, CEO of USA Curling "We congratulate the winners and all the competitors who reached the Nationals, and extend our heartfelt thanks to Nancy Myers and Sam Futch for all the excellent work they have done on behalf of College Curling USA.”

2018 Olympic Gold Medalist John Shuster attended the opening ceremonies and spoke to competitors. There were sixteen teams at the championship, vying advance to the playoff round through pool play. To encourage participation and adapt to student schedules, teams in this championship have as many as six competitors.
