(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) -- A verbal commitment has been made between USA Curling and the Fargo-Moorhead Curling Club (FMCC) to host the 2022 USA College Curling Championship, March 11-13.

The FMCC had been selected to host the 2020 College Championship, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 College Championship, for which no site was set, was also canceled.

“The selection of the 2022 site represents a positive step towards the return to on-ice activities for college curling,” said Gordon Maclean, Chair, USCA College Curling Committee. “We will be looking for a 100 percent reboot of the program starting in September 2021.”

The intended host club is eager to play a role in the return of the 2022 Championship.

“We know that the cancellation of this same event at our club this past March, and then essentially losing the whole 2020-2021 college curling season has been tough on all the athletes,” said Steve Scheel, FMCC Event Chairperson. “We want to wish those athletes who missed those opportunities the best of luck in their careers and hope to see them on-ice in the future! We are very excited to be selected to host this event again in 2022 and are looking forward to bringing 16 of the best college teams to the Fargo-Moorhead Curling Club and our community in the spring of 2022!”
