The USA women’s curling team (Tabitha Peterson, Nina Roth, Becca Hamilton, Tara Peterson, and Aileen Geving) took the ice by storm in the Olympic opener for women’s curling on Thursday morning against ROC.

After arriving in Beijing one week ago, Team Peterson was eager to bring their world-caliber momentum to the Olympic stage.

“After our practice last night, we came together and talked about what we were seeing and how it was feeling,” Tabitha Peterson said on Thursday morning. “It just felt really good, and everyone threw really well. I knew exactly what everyone was throwing at the broom, so that makes it easier for me to read the lines.”

The Team made it ‘easy’ enough that they defeated ROC 9-3 in just seven ends.

"I feel like we came out firing and put some pressure on them early,” Peterson reflected. “We did get a few misses out of them and capitalized on all their misses. Once we got up on the scoreboard, we just tried to lob our rocks into the rings and make them make some plays on those."

While four out of five members of Team Peterson are making their return to the Olympics, the lineup, skipped by Tabitha Peterson, is new to the Games.

"It didn't really feel any different to me,” Peterson said when asked about her new position on one of the sport’s biggest stages. “We played with these positions for quite a few events now. It felt just like any other game. We really honed in on our team process all around, so it felt really natural out there."

To put a bow n the perfect opening day, the U.S. women went on to defeat Denmark 7-5, improving to a 2-0 record.

“It's feels really good,” said Tara Peterson, Tabitha’s younger sister lead on the team. “When we win two games in a day, we get ice cream. So we're excited that we get ice cream tonight."

And that’s the scoop.
