[EAGAN, MN, July 25th, 2023] — Six junior events have been confirmed as qualifiers for the 2024 U21 Junior National Championships scheduled for the Eau Claire Curling Club in Eau Claire, WI, from March 25-30, 2024. Youth curlers will be able to earn berths through bonspiels that take place across the country and span from November to early March.

The Junior Nationals will feature eight men’s and eight women’s teams in 2024, each vying to represent the United States at the 2025 Men’s and Women’s World Junior Curling Championships, per qualification based on results in 2024.

The qualification procedures for the Junior Nationals are as follows:

  1. The top team on both the men’s and women’s side in the WCF Team Rankings as of October 31st, 2023 will earn a berth to the Junior Nationals.

  2. At each of the six Qualifying Bonspiels, the highest-finishing team not already qualified will earn a berth to the Junior Nationals.

  3. The eighth and final berths will be given to a team of each gender that has earned the most qualifying points at Qualifying Bonspiels. Teams will earn points based on their performance at each Qualifying Bonspiel. Teams can count only their top three performances at qualifying events to this ranking.

The Metropolis Junior Spiel in Eau Claire, WI, will kick off qualifying process for the Junior Nationals, running its event from November 10-12, 2023. The following weekend, the Broomstones Curling Club in Wayland, MA, will welcome curlers to its Junior Spiel from November 17-19, 2023 . The final qualifier in 2023 will be the Madison Junior Spiel at the Madison Curling Club on December 8-10, 2023.

In the New Year, three more qualifying events will be on the docket. The Fargo Junior Spiel will run January 5-7, 2024, followed by the Rock Creek Junior Spiel that will take place in Lafayette, CO from February 16-18, 2024. The final remaining berths in the Nationals will be awarded at the Four Seasons Junior Spiel in Blaine, MN, held from March 8-10, 2024. Teams that have already qualified for the 2024 Junior Nationals will compete in a separate Junior Tour Championship that will be held during this event.

“These events create a number of different pathways to Junior Nationals, and help build the competitive junior bonspiel ecosystem,” remarked USA Curling CEO Dean Gemmell. “The support of the member clubs who host these events and the bonspiel conveners who organize them is truly appreciated, and it’s been a pleasure to work together to find ways to further improve the process.”

More information regarding qualifying is in the 2023-2024 Championship Qualifying Procedures Document that can be found here. Additional information about the Junior Nationals can be found on the Championships page.
