Team Peterson sits on top of the standings at the 2022 U.S. Olympic Trials with a 7-1 record after eight games of round robin play.

The team of 2018 Olympians suffered their first and only loss of the competition thus far to Team Rhyme in session two, losing 7-5 in a game that came down to the final stone.

"We've been improving each game and that's what we intend to do for the rest of the round robin,” said Nina Roth, third on Team Peterson.

Team Peterson has continued to climb in the world rankings since their Olympic debut in 2018, placing third and qualifying the United States for the 2022 Games at the 2021 World Women’s Curling Championship.

"I think our success we've had along the way have motivated us to keep improving and keep getting better,” added Roth. “We really like coming together and analyzing how we're currently playing. Even if it was a really good game, we always are looking for little ways that we can get better every day."

The goal of daily improvement has held true in Omaha at the 2022 Trials as Team Peterson has pulled out both close and commanding wins every game since falling short in session two.

"We're a really resilient team and just focusing on our processes and everything that we worked on the last four years to get to this point,” said Roth. “So, we'll just keep building from here."

A 7-1 record places Team Peterson two games ahead of the rest of the women’s field. With only two games remaining in round robin play, Team Peterson has clinched not only the first of two playoff spots but will also have the one-seed in the best-of-three game final.

Trailing Team Peterson in the standings and fighting for the second and final playoff berth is Team Christensen currently in second place with a 5-3 overall record, followed by Teams Bear, Rhyme, Sinclair, and Strouse, all with 3-5 records.

The women’s field will play the final two round robin games on Thursday at 9:00AM and 7:00PM.
