After two tough losses in Thursday’s matchups against Italy and Norway, Team USA was hungry for a win.

In Friday’s game of evenly matched momentum, Team USA remained patient and secured their second win of the tournament to even their record at 2-2.

"That felt a lot better,” Chris Plys said after the win. “We just lightened up a little bit and had a talk before in the long room with some good jams going.”

Team USA remained patient even after Sweden put up a score of three in the sixth end to lead by two and opted to focus on the factors that they could control.

“We decided to forget about all the pressure and everything that happened yesterday. We're just going to go play for each other and play for our families and have as much fun as we can out there,” Plys added. “I told someone that you can only control so much, but we can definitely control our attitudes and the way we're playing for each other."

The American duo answered the deficit with a use of their power play to score three in the seventh end, moving ahead by two points.

Sweden’s deuce in the eighth end sent the game into an extra end, where Chris Plys made a runback triple takeout to clear the two Swedish counters in the four-foot and the guard that covered them.

"We'd like to win every game, but we don't look too far ahead with our schedule, Vicky Persinger said. “Every game is just as important as the next. But it was nice to get a win against a great team.”

Chris Plys and Vicky Persinger will join the rest of the Team USA Curlers (Team Peterson and Team Shuster) for the opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games before they face China and Canada in Saturday’s matchups.
