THE USA CURLING EXPERIENCE AT WINTER SKOLSTICE

On Jan. 8 – Feb. 20, the USA Curling Experience will be live on the Viking Lakes campus in Eagan, Minn.

The “USA Curling Experience” will be one activity at Winter Skolstice, an activation created by MV Ventures that will take place on the 200+ acre Viking Lakes campus.

“With the coldest, shortest, and darkest days of winter upon us, Viking Lakes is warming up with 60 days of activation,” said Viking Lakes. “We have fun for all ages and skill levels, from competitive sports and activities on the ice to festive lights and a Warming Haus with Nordic flare.”

Viking Lakes campus goers can experience the magic of sport and the “Spirit of Curling” through the USA Curling Experience at Winter Skolstice as the north pond between the Twin Cities Orthopedic Performance Center and the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel will feature outdoor curling.

The pond will be complete with brooms, hacks, and real granite curling stones to accompany the four 15’ x 75’ curling sheets.

Additionally, curling newcomers and fans alike can watch and cheer on Team USA from the screens in the Warming Haus as Teams Shuster, Peterson, and Persinger/Plys compete for Olympic Gold in Beijing.

After getting swept up in the fun of curling, Winter Skolstice offers skating on the ice rink, sledding on the campus hill, pond hockey, holiday lights, or food and beverage in the Warming Haus.

Positioned between the Omni Hotel and the TCO Stadium, the pond on Viking Lakes campus will be converted into an outdoor curling rink on Jan. 8 - Feb. 20, 2022.

“We’re proud to partner with USA Curling every day on campus and what better way to showcase the year round commitment than to offer the community an outdoor experience that is truly unique to Viking Lakes this winter,” said Viking Lakes General Manager Kyle Chank.

Since moving the National Headquarters to Viking Lakes in Eagan, Minn. in 2020, USA Curling has joined the campus culture of “Live. Work. Play.”

“We’re excited to share our sport with our new neighbors in the surrounding community,” said USA Curling CEO Jeff Plush. “Not only is Winter Skolstice a great chance for Greater Minneapolis – St. Paul to maximize on winter fun, but also for USA Curling area member clubs to meet, greet, and recruit those interested in the sport.”

The USA Curling Experience at Winter Skolstice is open to the public but requires registration for ice access. This registration will only need to be competed once, even if an individual plans to curl multiple times throughout Skolstice.

Private group rentals are open for booking based on staffing and rink availability.

If you have dedicated curling equipment, please don’t utilize it for pond curling as it may get damaged. Necessary equipment such as stones, sliders, brooms, and delivery sticks will be available to those attending the USA Curling Experience at Winter Skolstice.
