VOTING OPENS FOR USA CURLING ATHLETES’ ADVISORY COUNCIL

The Athletes’ Advisory Council (AAC) is looking for interested individuals to join AAC and USA Curling Committees.

The AAC has four open seats and will be filling spots for the following positions:

  • Two women, one of whom is a para athlete, to be elected for a two-year term.

  • Two men, one of whom is a para athlete, to be elected for a two-year term.

The AAC is also looking to elect athletes to the following USA Curling Board committees:

  • Nominating and Governance – Two Athletes (one four-year term, one two-year term, to implement staggered position timing)

  • Judicial – Two Athletes (one four-year term, one two-year term, to implement staggered position timing)

  • Ethics – One Athlete

The self-nominations of eligible athletes have been combined in a ballot, where eligible voters will be able to vote until 11:59pm on July 15, 2022.

To qualify to vote, athletes must meet the 10-year athlete definition from the AAC Bylaws. This includes all athletes who have competed in the following events in the previous ten years:

  • Olympics

  • Paralympics

  • World Championships

  • USA Curling National Championships

  • Pan Continental Championships

  • World Qualification Events

  • Olympic Qualification Events

  • USA Olympic Team Trials

  • USA Wheelchair Team Selection

  • Grand Slam of Curling

The qualifying events includes those in which the Olympic disciplines of Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles are competed, and Wheelchair competitions. Age restricted competitions (Juniors or Seniors) and Mixed competitions are not eligible at this time.
