FIVE-AND-UNDER NATIONALS: QUALIFYING SPIEL APPLICATION PROCESS UNDERWAY
Last year’s Five-and-Under Nationals qualifier Team Mewers earned their spot at the 5U bonspiel held in October at the Coyotes Curling Club in Arizona.
The field for the Five-and-Under National Championship, a mixed-gender event held each season to determine our top team comprised of players over the age of 21 who have started to curl within the last five years, is populated by results from qualifying bonspiels across the country.
In 2023-24, there will be 23 qualifying events selected. The field of 24 is rounded out by one team from the host club. When selecting qualifying events, the following criteria is considered:
Expected size of field
Spiel format
History of event
Geographic distribution—need to provide qualifying events in as many parts of the country as possible
If you’re a convener and interested in making your Five-and-Under bonspiel as a 2024 Nationals qualifier, you’ll find a form and more information here. Entries will be accepted until July 15, 2023.
