CHANGES TO USA CURLING MEMBERSHIP UPGRADES AND DATES
[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, June 2, 2025] — Changes to the USA Curling membership upgrade process and renewal/ expiration dates are coming the week of June 2nd, 2025.
Membership benefits and privileges will not be impacted, but the process for upgrades and the date of expiration is being adjusted to provide a better experience for users and avoid challenges in registrations across the membership year change.
NEW DATES FOR EXPIRATION AND RENEWAL OF INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIPS
Currently, USA Curling Individual memberships expire on 11/30/2025. As of early June, the expiration date of all Individual memberships will be extended to 12/31/2025 and we will continue to align with the calendar year going forward.
Member Clubs wishing to renew USA Curling membership on behalf of their Individual members will still be required to submit rosters for renewal by 11/30/2025. The new Individual membership expiration date, however, will provide enough time to process of significantly more of those memberships and prevent them from lapsing during the month of December when many are entering championships.
MEMBERSHIP UPGRADE PROCESS
Aligning membership with the calendar year is also part of our effort to simplify and improve the membership upgrade process.
Currently, an upgrade is attached directly to your Individual membership. That means, for example, you will have a Basic membership OR a Competitor membership. Due to limitations of the Sport:80 platform, this caused significant challenges for members who wished to upgrade or renew their memberships last summer and fall. Our new process will resolve those challenges.
Starting this week, all USA Curling members will have either a Basic or a Youth membership, depending upon their age.

Membership Upgrade menu in MyUSACurling.com. This upgrade is valid for 2025 Championship events requiring a Competitor upgrade. Coach, Silver, and Gold are also available
This means you can still use your 2025 Competitor upgrade to enter USA Curling Championships held in 2025 (e.g. Arena Nationals), and you will still be able to register for certain courses through MyUSACurling.com at the discounted rate. For 2026 Championships (e.g. U18 Nationals), you will need to purchase the 2026 Competitor upgrade. Please note that when championships have regional playdowns, the upgrade should be purchased for the year of the Championship, not the year of the playdowns. For example, if a region hosts playdowns for the 2026 U18 Nationals in October of 2025, competitors will need the 2026 Competitor upgrade to participate in the November playdowns, as eligibility is checked against the dates of the national championship and not the playdowns.
Dates
Membership upgrades for 2025 are still available and will remain on sale until 12/31/2025.
Membership upgrades for 2026 will be available starting 07/01/2025. Basic and Youth membership renewals for the 2026 season will also be available on that date and renewal of a Basic or Youth membership, along with purchase of a 2026 membership upgrade, will satisfy the membership requirements for events taking place in 2026.
Benefits and Pricing
Membership benefits and privileges for current upgraded membership will not change with the application of the 2025 Membership Upgrade. Membership benefits and privileges are not expected to significantly change for the 2026 Membership Upgrades. As always, a full description of membership benefits is available by clicking “Member Info” and “Membership” above.
Basic and Youth memberships will remain at $25 and $20 respectively. The price of upgrades will simply be the previous price of the upgraded membership, minus the $25 Basic membership: Competitor ($75), Coach ($100), Silver ($175), Gold ($475).
Why is this changing?
As we closed out the first year of the new membership model and embarked on the second cycle, we determined that a month-long buffer between the club submission deadline and membership expirations would prevent some confusion and frustration. This has the additional benefit of aligning the individual membership year with the calendar year, simplifying the upgrade process as well—if it’s a 2025 competition, you know a 2025 Membership Upgrade is required.
Separating the Individual memberships from the membership upgrade allows members to have more control over their own memberships. Previously, Individual members with Basic memberships that were managed by their home clubs had to wait for the club roster to be submitted and processed before upgrades could be made. In some cases, members were forced to wait until their previous membership had lapsed before having access to a renewed membership. This caused delays in upgrades, along with confusion, and frustration around the registration process, particularly for events saddling the membership expiration of 11/30/2024. We believe unlinking an upgrade from the Individual membership will make it far easier for USA Curling members to renew AND upgrade this coming season.
Overall, USA Curling believes the new model has been a success, but we are always seeking ways to make the process more seamless for our members. These changes should result in a smoother, easier membership cycle for all.
