KATIE BAKER JOINS USA CURLING AS SPORTING DIRECTOR

USA Curling is thrilled to announce the hiring of Katie Baker as Sporting Director.

Sporting Director, a role new to the organization, will oversee all aspects of USA Curling’s sporting department, including National Teams, junior programming, wheelchair curling, and pipeline development beginning at the grassroots level.

Baker will bring her entire career’s worth of experience in the Olympic and Paralympic movement to the organization.

“I've worked in the movement for almost 23 years and have seen a lot both from the NGB and USOPC perspective,” said Katie Baker. “I've also had the opportunity to work with and build great relationships with some amazing people who will be invaluable resources moving forward.”

After spending the first 12 years of her professional career at USA Triathlon, beginning in membership, and advancing to High Performance Director, Baker joined the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), where she spent the past seven of her 11 years working as the High Performance Director for 13 Paralympic Sports.

“In addition to her enthusiasm for sport and development, the plethora of perspective Katie brings will be a huge asset to USA Curling,” said CEO Jeff Plush. “Katie’s vast experience across multiple sporting disciplines, combined with her commitment to creating and supporting a culture of high performance and grassroots development makes her a perfect fit.”

With this holistic approach to sporting development, USA Curling looks forward to creating new pathways and developmental strategies to help curlers of all levels across the country achieve their desired competitive success.
