Heading into the final round robin game of the 2021 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, Team USA would just miss the playoffs of the Championship regardless of the game’s outcome, however, the stakes remained high as a victory against Finland would advance Tabitha Peterson and Joe Polo to the Olympic Qualification Game.

Facing a five-point deficit after two ends of play against Finland, Team USA answered with a score of three in the third end and a steal of a single point in the fourth. Another score of three and force positioned the United States to be tied with hammer playing the eighth end.

On the final stone of the eighth end, Joe Polo perfectly executed a double take-out removing two Finnish stones from play resulting in a score of two and a victory for the United States.

Team USA will face Czech Republic, the fourth seeded team from Pool A in the Olympic Qualification Game, where the winner will earn its country a berth to Beijing 2022.

The Olympic Qualification Game will be played on May 22 at 11:00 AM Eastern.
