2023 USA CURLING WOMEN’S NATIONAL CHAMPIONS CROWNED

Team Peterson defeats Team Strouse 8-5 to capture the Women’s title.

Three years ago, Tabitha Peterson skipped her team to the 2020 Women’s National Championship, only to miss the opportunity to represent the country at the world championship because of the COVID pandemic.

Now, Peterson and her teammates are headed to the World Women’s Curling Championship as Team USA.

The team (Cory Thiesse, Becca Hamilton, Tara Peterson) finished the event undefeated, and capped the week with an 8-5 win over Team Strouse (Delaney Strouse, Anne O’Hara, Sydney Mullaney, Rebecca Rodgers, Susan Dudt) in the final.

In the championship game, Team Peterson jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but the young Team Strouse, fresh off a Bronze medal at the World University Game, clawed their way back and eventually tied the score 4-4 in the sixth end. With the scored tied 5-5 in the ninth end, Peterson made a brilliant angle run to score three and send her team on to victory.

Team Peterson will now represent the United States at the World Women’s Curling Championship in Sandviken, Sweden, from March 18-26.

USA Curling is sponsored by Columbia Sportswear, Twin Cities Orthopedics, Training HAUS, Brakebush, ISS (Ice, Sports & Solar), Rock Solid Productions, IHG, and Laurie Artiss. USA Curling, as the National Governing Body for the sport in the United States, is also supported by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
