Home / About Us / Diversity & Inclusion / Adaptive Curling
Adaptive curling provides opportunities for athletes with physical, sensory, and other disabilities to participate in curling in a way that works for them. From recreational play to competitive opportunities, adaptive curling welcomes athletes of all abilities to experience the sport, build community, and compete at every level.
Wheelchair Curling
Wheelchair curling is an internationally recognized discipline of the sport, with athletes competing in both Wheelchair Mixed Doubles and Wheelchair Mixed. Both disciplines feature annual World Championships and are part of the Paralympic pathway. In the United States, USA Curling hosts the Wheelchair Mixed Doubles National Championship, providing a national-level competitive opportunity for athletes pursuing the sport at the highest level.
Stick Curling
Stick curling is an adaptation of traditional curling that allows athletes to deliver stones from a standing or seated position, making the sport more accessible to a wider range of participants. Curling sticks are used to deliver the stone without requiring athletes to get into a traditional delivery position. Many curling clubs across the country have sticks available for members to use, and stick curling is offered as a discipline at multiple USA Curling National Championships, providing opportunities to compete at the national level.
