[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, June 23, 2026] — USA Curling has released the 2026-27 Qualification Procedures, outlining processes and eligibility for all national championships.
This document, available on the revamped Championships page, is edited after each season to improve clarity, add new dates and locations, and eliminate redundancies. For on-ice play, USA Curling follows the World Curling Rules of Curling.
Two championships—Junior Mixed Doubles Nationals and Mixed Doubles Nationals—will require updates for the following reasons:
A site for the second qualifying event for Junior Mixed Doubles Nationals is under discussion, but cannot be confirmed at this time. The CK Cup, a bonspiel hosted by Olympic silver medalists Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin, will be a qualifier again next season.
In 2027, World Curling is moving the World Mixed Doubles Championship from its traditional date in late April to January 2nd through January 9th. This new date necessitates changes to the traditional USA Curling championship schedule. Following discussions with the members of the Athlete Commission, USA Curling has decided to run two Mixed Doubles National Championships this upcoming season. The first will be held in late October with the winners advancing to the 2027 World Mixed Doubles, while a second will be held later in the season with the winners earning the right to be Team USA at the 2028 World Mixed Doubles. Sites and qualification processes for each championship will be determined shortly and more updates will follow.
In early October, Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin will compete at the World Mixed Doubles Qualifier event. The United States must play in this event to earn a berth in the 2027 world championship, based on results at the 2026 World Mixed Doubles Championship in Geneva.
