[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, July 9, 2025]  USA Curling is proud to introduce the Regions Cup, a new title that will recognize the top-performing Recognized Regional Association (RRA) across the four regionally-based national championships.

The Regions Cup will be awarded annually to the RRA that accumulates the most total points in the following championships:

  • Arena Club Nationals

  • U18 Nationals

  • Club Nationals

  • Mixed Fours Nationals

Points will be awarded based on team placements in each of the four championships. The RRA with the highest cumulative score at the end of the season will be crowned the Regions Cup Champion. Points will be awarded for the finish that each team records in these national championships—Every Game Matters.

If regions are tied after all four events, the cumulative Win-Loss records will be compared to break the tie. If a tie still remains, it will be broken by the head-to-head record between the regions. If a tie still remains, it will be broken by the cumulative Draw Shot Challenge scores across all four championionships.

At any championship when an RRA has more than one representative—ie. host berth, fill policy, defending champion, qualifier bonspiel representative—only the highest-finishing team from the region will be awarded points and teams from other regions will move up in the final rankings of the event.

“The Regions Cup aims to foster a year-long points race and promote a friendly rivalry among the Recognized Regional Associations,” noted Dean Gemmell, CEO of USA Curling. “With the introduction of this championship and the Every Game Matters rallying cry, it adds a competitive element to any matchup, even late in round-robin play when some teams are eliminated from the playoffs.”

The inaugural Regions Cup competition begins with the 2025 Arena Club Nationals at CurlVegas in October, and will conclude with the Mixed Fours Nationals at the Denver Curling Club in April. Standings will be updated after each regionally-based championship.

“We love how our regionally-based national championships foster community and bring together curlers from across the country, and we hope the Regions Cup will only add to their appeal,” said Gemmell.
