USA CURLING TO HOLD ICE TECHNICIAN TRAINING AT ROCK CREEK CURLING IN MAY
[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, April 6, 2026] — USA Curling is bringing an ice tech training opportunity to Lafayette, CO, from May 16-17, 2026. The national organization, which has aligned its ice tech education with the World Curling Academy curriculum, will offer the Club Ice Technician Assessment at Rock Creek Curling during the Emerging Talent Showcase. This certification also serves as a World Curling Level 1 Ice Technician Certification.
Interested members of USA Curling Member Clubs will be eligible by completing the online Introduction to Ice Maintenance course. They will complete the certification with this in-depth, hands-on approach to learning the skills required to produce high quality conditions in a club setting. The training will be led by USA Curling Chief Ice Technician Shawn Olesen.
Olesen noted, “In the relatively short time we have been offering this course, the people who have completed it have been very positive about what it offers. Those who take it return to their Member Clubs with more knowledge, skill, and confidence.”
USA Curling CEO Dean Gemmell added, “I hope Member Clubs that want to support their ice crews—and all should—will consider funding the attendance of some of the dedicated people who make the game enjoyable for members by providing a great playing surface.”
Registration is available through MyUSACurling. Participants are required to belong to a USA Curling Member Club.
