[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, October 20, 2025]  “A” Division play in the 2025 United States Steel Pan Continental Curling Championships, gets underway today in Virginia, Minnesota, at Iron Trail Motors Event Center. Team Shuster (John Shuster, Chris Plys, Colin Hufman, Matt Hamilton, Alternate Danny Casper) and Team Peterson (Tabitha Peterson, Cory Thiesse, Tara Peterson, Taylor Anderson-Heidi, Alternate Aileen Geving) will represent the United States in Men’s and Women’s play, aiming to secure top finishes that qualify the country for the 2026 World Championships.

The 2026 BKT World Women’s Championship will be in Calgary, AB, Canada in March, and the top four countries plus host Canada will qualify. The LGT World Men’s Championship will start in Odgen, Utah, on March 28th, 2026, and as the host country, the United States has an automatic berth. But Team Shuster earned a bronze medal at this event last season, and are eager to move up on the podium this year.

“The local support of this event has been extraordinary,” noted USA Curling CEO Dean Gemmell. “The enthusiasm of both sponsors and members of the community, along with the Curl Mesabi Foundation, is making this a great event. I hope sports fans from around the state make plans to attend.”

For Peterson and Shuster, it’s also an opportunity to compete on championship ice in an arena setting, less than 30 days before the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Curling get underway at the Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, SD. That event will determine which Americans will move on for a chance to represent the United States at the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy.
